My Story

Hi, my name is Rose, and I am an Australian ceramicist and tour designer who now resides in London. I was born on the wild west coast of Australia surrounded by sandy beaches and unique native flora and my curiosity for the natural world has always informed and inspired my ceramic work. This love for places and spaces has also sparked my passion for travel beyond Australian shores. The thrill of discovering some out of the way alleyway or simply a tiny detail on a beautiful old weather worn door intoxicates the senses and fills me with such joy.

‘The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.‘ – Marcel Proust

I have travelled to many parts of Australia and the south coast of New Zealand but fell in love with Italy in my twenties and I spent several years traversing from top to toe discovering this amazing country. Eventually my travels lured me towards the Mediterranean island of Sicily, a place so steeped in history and rich in natural beauty with incredibly diverse layers of cultural influences. My passion for this beautiful island eventually grew into a small group tour business called Seeking Sicily Tours.

Moving to London with my husband has proved to be a blessing in disguise. Not only am I able to discover and explore a whole new city, country, and culture but also it provides more accessibility for travel to other parts of Europe. London has been a delightful surprise and on our weekend adventures I am constantly amazed at not only the history to be discovered but also the diversity of the city. London is huge!

Each Sunday we venture forth, no matter what the weather predicts, to explore and discover new places for us which both delight and inspire. From traditional cosy pubs with their Sunday roasts to the multitude of international contemporary eateries; from established museums displaying ancient artifacts to modern art galleries; and wandering endlessly through stunning parks and gardens after which a tour inside a beautiful mansion is an absolute necessity.

Sharing these visits on Instagram elicited many warm and positive responses from people who also remembered their time spent living in London or perhaps wishing to return or even those dreaming of visiting for the first time.

I love researching places to visit, taking photos, and writing about my travels and I simply want to share it with others. My Sunday Jaunts with my husband give me strength in a time of personal and global uncertainty – sometimes it’s important to find joy in the simple things in life which simply make you happy.

So…

…Welcome to The Sunday Londoner.

I hope you love discovering all the amazing areas in London with me, as well as my travels around the UK, and wherever else my trusty camera takes me.

Enjoy!

Rose xx
